HONK! Annual Lecture with Cecily Miller / Part of the Wollongong City Council 'Creative Dialogues' Series:

Community-based street bands and the international HONK! Festival movement celebrate engagement and empowerment through individual and collective expression via music.   This year's speaker, Cecily Miller, will talk about some public art projects which a have shared mission:  building a sense of community, encouraging diverse participation and expression, and inviting reflection on how to have a positive impact on our neighborhoods and the larger world.  Cecily is a member of the organizing committee for the HONK! Festival based in Boston, MA, USA. She is also an independent curator and organiser of community-based art programs.  She will share some of her own projects and some that have inspired her, and describe some of the art that has grown out of HONK! Festivals in the US.
