HONK! Oz Festival of Street Music 2016
Wednesday Jan 6th - at the gallery
Pre HONK! Public Lecture - Jon Rose
6pm Wollongong Art Gallery (corner Kembla and Burelli Streets)
HONK! Oz = Participation. Participation helps us remember what makes our communities strong and music even raucous honking music makes our lives richer and more wonderful. So It is with absolute delight and a great sense of honour that we announce Jon Rose as the presenter of the HONK! Oz public lecture in 2016. In 2012 Jon Rose was honored with The Music Board of The Australia Council's senior prize – the Don Banks Award for a life-time's achievement and contribution to Australian music. His book about the state of music today "Music of Place: Reclaiming a Practice" is a manifesto for action in a world that no longer values the performance of music.
Thanks to Megan Mckell and the team at Wollongong City Council for making this possible.
