Kids HONK! Band
Who is it for?
The Kids HONK! Band is a street music workshop band for young musicians aged approximately 9 to 13 years of age (older teenagers should consider attending the all ages Macedonian Street Music Workshops and Ken Fields Hoot! Pickup Band)
This activity is suitable for students who play in a primary school band, early secondary school band, or have participated in Wollongong Conservatorium of Music programs such as Junior Band, Concert Band, ISER Band or Megaband. Parts for beginner level musicians as well as more challenging parts for experienced players.
As a minimum, students should be able to play and read music at a basic level (From approximately page 8 Essential Elements)
Instruments include:
flute, violin, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba, bass guitar or percussion.

Pre-Festival Rehearsal (optional):
Thursday 7th January 10am-11am at The Wollongong Conservatorium of Music
Main Rehearsal:
Friday 8th January, 10am-12pm in The Wollongong Arts Precinct (near the town hall)
The workshop session will be supervised by Wollongong Conservatorium staff. All Con staff are fully qualified teachers and work regularly with school age children in department of Education approved music programs.

Performance 1:
Friday 8th January, 7pm - Wollongong Arts Precinct (near IPAC)
Come and perform on the streets in Wollongong's Arts Precinct (near IPAC)
The performance will be stationary to enable bass guitarists to participate. Power will be available, but bass guitarists will need to bring their own small amp and an extension lead.
Parents need to supervise their children immediately before and after the rehearsals and performances.
From 8pm there will be a lantern parade in the streets surrounding the Arts precinct (near IPAC, Town Hall). All students and families are invited to stay on and join the lantern parade

Performance 2:
Saturday 10th January 12pm - Wollongong Arts Precinct (near IPAC)
Students are invited to walk in the Parade with their parents/guardians, and then return to the Arts Precinct for a performance outside IPAC.
