Welcome to Honk!Oz 2015. Australia’s inaugural HONK! street music festival. If you have the time and energy to become part of the Honk Oz Festival family as a volunteer, it is assured that in addition to supporting the musicians, you will be engaged in a joyous musical festivity with an inclusive party atmosphere.
Basic Requirements: Honk Oz is a fringe event of the Illawarra Folk Festival. All Honk volunteers will be covered for insurance by Illawarra Folk Club in line with Illawarra Folk Festival guidelines. Volunteers will be required to undergo a basic induction training for Honk, and agree to the code of conduct.
Photo Id, Drivers License (if driving for bands), and the name and contact details of employer or 2 referees, are required for identification and validation.
Underage Volunteers: In line with the Illawarra Folk Festival guidelines all volunteers must be 18 years or older. Teenage children of volunteers are welcome to assist their parents and learn volunteering skills where appropriate, but must be supervised by their responsible adult at all times.
Hospitality: Most of the musicians are contributing their time and skills for free and some bands have travelled great distances to be here. Local hospitality is paramount to the success of this festival and the core mission of each volunteer.

Volunteer Roles: There are a number of specific volunteer roles to fill:
Band Support - for visiting bands
To assist the musicians from interstate and out of town bands, we require volunteers to provide host town knowledge and support, including where required, transportation. Facilitating the moving of instruments and the musicians themselves will be the goal of the band Volunteer, and as such they will need to liase with their allocated band to identify their specific needs. Some will be billeted by volunteer hosts, others will be accommodated at others will be accommodating themselves independently.
Venue Support : Saturday 10am-6pm
Ensuring the Venues and Musicians schedule runs accordingly and adjustments are well communicated. Assisting Musicians and audience safe engagement with the area
First Aid support: Saturday 8am- 6pm
Ist point of call for basic first aid and the provision of support until Primary health care assistance arrives, if required.
Transport support:
For example: To and from airport and railway stations; to the beach on Sunday morning; to the Botanic Gardens on Sunday afternoon.
Volunteer Other/General Assistance: this is a creative troubleshooting role and requires the flexibility of Olympic gymnast and the humour of a stand up comedian. An assistant to those experiencing unplanned spiritual awakenings!
