Visiting musicians Joe Correia (tuba) and Ken Field (saxophone) from the Revolutionary Snake Ensemble, are specialists in New Orleans street music.
- Workshop : 9am-12pm Friday 9th January, 2015 (Wollongong Conservatorium of Music)
- Performance : 6pm Friday 9th january (Wollongong Arts Precinct : Civic Plaza)
Students will learn several tunes including Rock Anthem by the Environmental Encroachment Band
Who can participate:
This HONK! Oz Festival holiday workshop / performance is for young musicians aged approximately 9 to 14 years of age.
Suitable for students who play in a primary school band, early secondary school band, or have participated in Wollongong Con programs such as Junior Band, Concert Band and Megaband. Parts for beginner level musicians as well as more challenging parts for experienced players.
Students should be able to read standard music notation at a very basic level. Approximately : Page 8 Essential Elements
Instruments:
flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba, violin, bass guitar or percussion.
Workshop: Friday 9th January, 9am-12pm
At the Wollongong Conservatorium. The rehearsal runs from 9am until 12pm with appropriate breaks
The workshop session at The Conservatorium will be led by Ken Field and Joe Correia (USA) with Wollongong Conservatorium staff; Eric Dunan, David Rooney, Mark Holder-Keeping, Mel Wishart. All Con staff are full qualified teachers.
Performance : Friday 9th January, 7pm
Come and perform on the streets in Wollongong's Arts Precinct (near IPAC)
The performance will be stationary to enable bass guitarists to participate. Power will be available, but bass guitarists will need to print their own small amp.
Parents need to supervise their children in the Arts Precinct immediately before and after the performance.

Lantern Parade: From 8pm there will be a lantern parade in the streets surrounding the Arts precinct (near IPAC, Town Hall). All students and families are invited to stay on and join the lantern parade
