What is It?
Hosted by Wollongong Conservatorium of Music, Kids HONK! is suitable for school musicians from Year 3 (age 8) and up - students learn several tunes, across the two workshops and perform together as part of the HONK! oz Street Music Festival.
Who is it for?
Are you a student in Year 3 or above ?
Have you had lessons on your instrument or played in your school band for at least 12 months or more?
Can you play the following notes on your instrument?
The Kids HONK! workshop band is designed for woodwind, brass, drums and bass guitar. We can accommodate other melody instruments (eg. violin, flute, melodica etc) if students are comfortable working with the notes mentioned above.

- Trumpet / Cornet / Tenor Sax : C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C

The workshop sessions will be supervised by Wollongong Conservatorium staff. Wollcon staff are fully qualified teachers, with current 'working with children check', and regularly work with primary school age children in Department of Education approved band and music programs.
Parents need to supervise their children immediately before and after the rehearsals and performances.

PERFORMANCE:
Saturday 11th January, 4.00pm - Arts Precinct (Burelli Street - near IPAC)
Power will be available - bass guitarists will need to bring their own small amp and an extension lead. Drummers bring your own sticks. Drums will be supplied

SHEET MUSIC / EQUIPMENT
We are aiming to do Kids HONK! Band without any sheet music or music stands. Just turn up with your instrument - we will learn the tunes during the workshop sessions. Bass players should bring a small amplifier. Drums will be supplied
CONCERT DRESS
For the performances, Kids HONK! Musicians are encouraged to wear the official HONK! Oz 2025 T-shirt (available as part of the $35 workshop registration)
Zany hats, crazy multicoloured pants, shoes, accessories are also welcome.
