Who is it for?
Suitable for young band musicians aged from approximately 9 yrs. If you have played in your primary school band for 1 year or more, you will be ok at Kids Honk

Secondary School Students please note: there will be a lot of primary school students involved, but we really need experienced teenage musicians to come and help us hold it all together. Mentoring younger or less experienced musicians is an important part of this style of learning. Secondary school students are also encouraged to participate in Ken Field's all ages HOOT! Band.

The workshop band is aimed at band instruments, but we can accommodate other instrumentalists who are comfortable working in the key of Bb!  e.g.: flute, violin, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba, bass guitar and percussion.

During workshop sessions we will attempt to learn most of the tunes by ear, however students should have an understanding of music notation. (e.g.: from approximately page 8 Essential Elements). Simpler parts will be available for beginner level musicians as well as more challenging parts for experienced players.

Ideally students should be able to play a 'concert' Bb scale fluently"
