- HONK! Oz features alternative community street bands and associated arts
- HONK! Oz is a wind, brass, percussion kind of thing (eg. Samba, New Orleans, Balkan Brass, trad jazz etc)
- Apologies - at this stage we don't include singer/songwriters and folk/rock/pop/indie acts on the HONK! Oz roster.
- The Festival is 100% volunteer run. Everything is free - there is no income from ticket sales.
- HONK! is a festival for community musicians. There are no performance fees. We don't pay bands!
- Officially invited visiting bands may be offered accommodation for 2 nights of the festival if needed.
- There are no fancy stages or PA systems. We use the existing infrastructure of the city. Ideally bands should potentially be mobile, or at least be able to play on a street corner
- We prefer to include visiting bands who can commit to the entire festival - Officially runs from Thursday 5pm through to Saturday Afternoon 3pm. (Note; There are some optional pre and post festival events)
