HOOT! pickup band for unattached (and attached) musicians
with the Junkadelic Brass Band

HOOT! is the official HONK! Oz festival pickup band. Musicans from the general public are invited to participate. All Musicians attending HONK! Oz 2022 are invited to participate. HOOT! is FREE!

The repertoire is selected and arranged and workshops/performances facilitated by the amazing Junkadelic Brass Band from Western Australia

HOOT! is for intermediate level players and up. Any instrument is acceptable - particularly if you don't need to plug it in. Open to the public and completely FREE!!  Local and visiting musicians attending HONK! Oz are invited to participate in this band. Members of the HONK! Oz 2022 bands are encouraged to join in.

The Junkadelic Brass Band is a band like no other. Hailing from Perth, Western Australia, Junkadelic combines a smoking hot 6-piece brass section with hard-hitting recycled percussion to bring you a face-melting blend of street rhythms. Taking inspiration from traditional New Orleans street music, Junkadelic combines tasty funk grooves with latin and hip-hop flavours to get you down on the D-floor. Rowdy vocals round out the band's explosive original compositions to create brass band music with a bend in it.

The HONK! Oz Street Music Festival acknowledges the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognises their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respects to them and their cultures; and to Elders both past, present and emerging. We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land upon which our festival takes place, the Dharawal peoples, their Elders past, present and emerging and their continuing culture and the contribution they make to the life of our region

HONK! Oz is supported by the following arts organisations
Wollongong Conservatorium of Music, Wollongong City Council,  Merrigong Theatre, Illawarra Folk Club,
